Both introduced in the 80’s, the ATR 42 and ATR 72 are twin- engine turboprop short-haul regional airliners developed and produced in France and Italy. “42” and “72” in their name is derived from the aircraft’s standard seating configuration when carrying passenger but these aircraft are also used by operators for cargo transportation.
